The project: supporting core tax administration systems

Our work with the Swiss Federal Office of Information Technology and Telecommunication (FOITT) focused on developing and stabilising core systems closely tied to the Swiss tax administration. The challenge was to evolve existing solutions efficiently, meet rising functional and technical demands, and at the same time strengthen the engineering organisation durably through targeted team extension.

The solution: deepening Go expertise and extending teams

devs group supported the FOITT as an experienced partner by deliberately building out Go engineering and extending existing development teams. Our technical expertise measurably improved the quality, maintainability and performance of the systems and kept them evolving inside a complex government environment.

Core backend: central domain and integration services continued to be built in Golang, to guarantee performance, scalability and reliability for tax-adjacent processes.

DevOps and infrastructure: applications are operated and delivered through a modern container and CI/CD landscape with OpenShift, Docker, ArgoCD and Helm.

Data exchange and API: connections to other administrative systems run over clearly defined interfaces based on OpenAPI, backed by robust persistence in PostgreSQL.

Agility and collaboration: the work took place in an agile environment following Scrum and SAFe, with close collaboration between business units, internal FOITT teams and our specialists.

The result: capable, stable systems in a tax environment

By deliberately strengthening Go engineering and extending the teams, core tax administration systems could be developed further on a durable footing. The solutions are marked by high stability, technical quality and efficient collaboration in a scaled agile environment.
